One Day At A Time

One day at a time
I sweep the hurt aside
Deep within me it hides
Everyday out a little more slides

I look around and see the pain
In my mind it has left a stain
It is wonder I am still sane
This kind of hurt is inhumane

I have to ask you why
You have seen how hard I try
You have seen how hard I cry
Only to be passed by

I would love to be confident once more
Even more than the time before
This has rattled me to the core
My heart feels so heavy and sore

Try to look beyond my smile
Try and go the extra mile
It might take you a little while
My heart I keep in a little vial

Tied around my neck on a little chain
Where nobody can reach it ever again
There it can heal and hopefully mend
And so the healing can never end
